About Marylebone

This district of Marylebone, which is part of the City of Westminster, is roughly bordered by the Prince Albert Road to the north of Regent’s Park, Great Portland Place (or Regents Street) to the east, Oxford Street to the south and finally Edgware road to the west.  The neighbourhood has an abundance of tube stations, as well as being home to Marylebone train station which offers numerous departures to the north of England.

Regent’s Park

Regent’s Park is one of the most famous green space in the capital, and part of the Royal Parks of London.  It is situated north of Marylebone road and Regent’s Park tube station and surrounded by Park road to the West, Prince Albert road to the North and Albany Street to the East.  It is home to a variety of recreational sights including the London Zoo, the Boating Lake and the Open Air Theatre within the Inner circle.

Sherlock Holmes Museum

The Sherlock Holmes Museum is the most visited attraction on Baker Street, in the heart of Marylebone.  The site is located at the fictional number of 221B (although officially sitting between numbers 237 and 241) and is dedicated to one of the world’s most known  fictional character, the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and its colleague Doctor Watson.  It is a privately-own museum run by the non-profit Sherlock Holmes International Society which first opened in 1990.

Wallace Collection

The Wallace Collection is a well known museum in Marylebone offering a variety of art objects divided into 25 galleries.  The collection holds numerous furniture, arms & armour, porcelain and paintings, mostly from the period between the 15th to the 19th centuries.  The admission is free of charge.
